Growing up in Texas, pralines are a staple sweet and I LOVE pralines.
So when I ( 7 months pregnant) told my northern- born husband I was craving a praline and he first tried to give me candied nuts and then tried to give me peanut brittle, I was a bit frustrated to say the least.
Candied nuts are not southern pralines ( although pralined pecans exist and are kind of amazing), and peanut brittle has even less in common with the sweet I just had to have.
So I set out to make some delicious microwavable southern pecan pralines and they are SO easy and are truly out of this world!
So whether you are looking for a quick treat or an easy christmas gift, these pralines are PERFECT ( best of all no candy thermometer required)!

Ingredients
- 1 Cup White Granulated Sugar
- 1 Cup Light Brown Sugar
- 2 Cups Pecans (optional : extra whole pecans for decorating).
- 1 Cup Heavy Whipping Cream
- 1 tsp Vanilla
- 1/4 Cup Butter
- A Pinch of Salt
Personally I LOVE the look of the pralines made in a square silicone mold however you can also make the pralines with wax paper for a more traditional look as seen in the picture below.
First combine the white granulated sugar, brown sugar, and heavy whipping cream in a large microwave safe bowl.
Stir to combine!
Microwave the mixture on high for 6 minutes.
If you are using whole or half pecans: While the mixture is in the microwave crush 2 cups of pecans into pieces by putting them in a gallon sized bag and using a rolling pin to crush them!
Be careful when removing the bowl from the microwave!
Cut the quarter cup of butter into slices and add to the sugar mix. Stir to melt the butter.
Microwave on high for 4 minutes.
Again, be careful removing the bowl from the microwave!
Add the vanilla, salt, and pecans to the mixture and stir well.
Immediately drop spoonfuls of the mixture either into the silicone baking mold or wax paper.
If you are using the silicone mold decorate with whole pecans on the top while still warm!
Let the pralines firm up for a few hours and then pop them out of the silicone mold or peel them off the wax paper.
