I don’t know about you ladies but I am so over slaving away over hot stoves and ovens ANYTIME we are expecting company.
These days I am all about saving time (and what is left of my sanity) by preparing as much as possible days before the actual event.
One of my go-to recipes come Mother’s Day, Easter, or Christmas has become this easy quiche recipe!
The quiche is easy to make ahead of time, keeps well in freezer, and saves you from running around like a mad person at the crack-o-dawn. Enjoy!
Quiche Made Easy
Freezer Tips: Use a disposable pie pan, after baking wrap tightly in tin foil or place in gallon sized freezer bag. Label and use within 2 months.
To Reheat: Place frozen quiche in a 350 degree oven for 25 minutes or until heated through.
Ingredients
- 6 Large Eggs
- 2 Cups Chopped Sliced Deli Ham
- 1 1/2 Cups Grated Swiss Cheese
- Pre-made Refrigerated Pie Crust
- 1 Cup Heavy Cream
- 1/2 Cup Whole Milk
- 1 Tbsp Sour Cream
- 1 tsp Salt
- 1/2 tsp Pepper
- 2 Dashes Cayenne Pepper
- A Dash of Nutmeg
1. Set the pie dough out and allow it to adjust to room temperature (in my experience between 15-20 minutes). I use this time to grate my Swiss Cheese since Pre-Swiss is hard to find.
2. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.
3. They typically say not to use a greased pan with pre made pie crust but I always use just a little Baker’s Joy in the pie plate. Unroll the pie crust and place in pie plate. Roll the edges of the crust.
4. Use a paper towel to blot the ham and remove any excess moisture.
5. Place the chopped ham into a semi- uniform layer on the crust.
6. Sprinkle the grated Swiss Cheese on top of the ham, reserving just a little to use later.
7. Whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, sour cream, milk, pepper, salt, nutmeg, and one dash of cayenne.
8. Pour the egg mixture over the ham and cheese.
9. Sprinkle a bit of Cayenne Pepper and grated cheese over the top.
10. Bake for 40 minutes or until the center is set.
11. Allow to cool for 15 minutes before serving.
For a truly out of this world breakfast in bed or Mother’s Day brunch serve with strawberries, fresh whipped cream, and a mimosa!
